Well done, Oscar!

So I was wrong. Thank god! No Best Picture for "Avatar" and that sure establish more respect for the Academy. However, winning Cinematography is a bit of a LOL - I mean, what cinematography? It was all made with computers! "Avatar" is the boyband version of films - those who think it deserves Best Picture are teenagers who would never pay to see something different than mainstream flicks. It's pure flirting with the audience, no brain, no substance. Of course I liked it myself, but it still isn't the best movie of 2009.

I liked "The Hurt Locker" but I liked "Precious" more. Mo'nique is well worthy the golden man for her work and so is the brilliant Christoph Waltz for his amazing performance. One thing is clear though: The Academy still has a long way before it can give a movie about obese and tragic black Americans what it deserves - it's more important to "celebrate and support the armed forces abroad who fight for their country". That's probably why well produced war movies about US forces always will have a slot open among the nominees.

Here in Sweden "Avatar" was screened in every city with a movie theater. "Precious" only went up in the bigger cities in a couple of theaters. Even here it is considered to be a small and undergroundy movie, which is a shame. Everyone should see it.
