Post to your self-hosted Wordpress blog by email using Posterous

If you want to post to your Wordpress blog on your own server you can choose to do it either via web interface or by email. However, setting up the email blogging feature is a bit of a nightmare since you will have to

  1. Create a dedicated e-mail account to be used solely for posting to your blog,
  2. Configure WordPress to access that account, and
  3. Configure WordPress to publish messages from the e-mail account
The unexperienced WP user will find this rather difficult. And it is a tad over-kill. But there is an easier way to do it. Use Posterous!
I have so much love inside me for Posterous and if I could I would marry it. The auto-posting feature is just one of the features making it the, no let me rephrase, THE-FRAKKING-THE, best blogging service there is. Since I am blogging to a number of different Posterous blogs I have decided to merge them all into my own little blog aggregator and with the auto-posting feature, this simply means that all my posts that are posted to my Posterous blogs are auto-posted to my WP blog. And I don't even have to go to WP-admin to finish the posting!

Here how it works:

1. Sign up at Posterous
2. Go to autopost settings
3. Set up your self-hosted WP blog
4. Send your blog post via email or by Posterous website and watch your WP blog update in seconds! Including images, vids and whatever you include in your text!

Easy as pie!
